The cole-SLA

Summer is moving along and I'm in a new position. Just like any position, anywhere, it has its perks and drawbacks. My official title is the Summer Leadership Assistant. I take care of the "whatever else needed" job description that appears on every summer staff person's contract, as well as getting the pleasure of working with the third level of our Leadership Development Program. These kids are going to be seniors in high school and they are still technically campers, but they are counselors for four weeks. I could go into all of what I do with them and the odd jobs I have, but that would fill a lot of space and take more time than I have to dedicate to this post. Even though at times I can feel isolated in this extreme leadership role, I am loving it. I have more time to observe camp life, to encourage the staff, and to lift my brothers and sisters up in prayer. And on top of all of that, just like anything that goes on at NLR, I laugh a lot. The staff here are hilarious and campers always provide entertainment.

In a week, the summer will be halfway over. This fact is extremely bittersweet! I know this is my last full summer here, and after four summers and nine months full time, it is impossible to picture myself anywhere else but here. However bitter that is, the sweet definitely makes the parting easier. In a little over seven weeks I will be living in Denver and a new leg of my journey begins.

For right now camp is the only thing on my brain, which is good, because it keeps me focused, but in time I will need to start thinking about it, so please pray for balance. More on Denver will come later. Until then...

Grace and Peace
