I'm a Second Year Grad Student??
That question has been swirling around my mind, disbelievingly, since the end of the semester.
It's truly hard for me to believe that I've got year one of this two and a half year journey under my belt. Even so, I'm glad the semester is done, because it sure ended in a whirlwind. Since Hannah and I had to move after the fire, a lot was on my plate to finish in a short amount of time, but God was gracious, and I was able to juggle everything (and take finals with confidence). While most sighed a breath of relief when finishing finals, I had to go pack. This time it was a different kind of packing, because no more than an hour after my last final, I headed to the airport to make my way to California to see Aaron and company.
This was my first time meeting my 2 year old niece, Lydia, and my 5 month old nephew, Malachi. And while all my body wanted to do was rest, it was the perfect way to end the semester. It was such a joyous trip. It made me wish that my family was the type that all stayed in their hometown, got together on Sundays, and was in everyone's business (well maybe not this last part). It was just precious to spend time with that part of my family. And while we messed up Lydia's routine and made her a little grouchy, I miss that little munchkin and her happy, smiling little brother.
After a jam packed weekend, I came back to a fixed apartment, which, unfortunately meant that vacation was over, and it was time to move again. It took a couple of days for Hannah and I to motivate ourselves to get everything moved. It was a rough week. I was so worn out from the previous two/three weeks that I was much like Lydia out of her routine, on the verge of some pretty moody moments myself - the last thing I wanted to do at this point was move and unpack. However, it's all done. We are moved, I have unpacked, (somewhat) settled back in, and I have been able to get some much needed rest and alone time.
Now...
I'm ready for summer!
(more details about summer plans coming soon)
grace and peace!
