Forgotten City No More
Prague:
So, Prague was a gorgeous city! Hitler captured it without firing a shot, so it's preserved as it was before WWII, which cannot be said about a lot of European cities. This square in Old Town was impressive!

These guys were playing outside the Palace. Not only did they sound really good, but they include an accordion, and the guy playing the flute had the best mustache I have ever seen. My dad would have loved them!
I was glad I got a picture with this palace guard, because I wasn't able to in London (that story will come in time). He's eying me pretty closely. Unlike the other guard who seemed to enjoy the pictures being taken with him, this one didn't seem too pleased.
Christy and I had mixed feelings about Prague. It was beautiful and very interesting, full of rich history, fantastic architecture, and young travelers only interested in going on pub crawls. As I walked around (still amazed that I was in Europe) I felt something inside me. The only way that I can describe it is that I felt a remnant of the feeling of oppression that Czech Republic, and Central/Eastern Europe as a whole, has experienced. It was strange. Overall, I enjoyed Prague, but it was not my favorite stop. I think adjusting to being in Europe and a cold rainy day sadly had an affect on my opinion of this city.
Highlight: Our free walking tour. There is a tour company called Sandemann's New Europe, and in major cities in Europe there are free walking tours offered (you just tip your tour guide what you think he/she deserves). Christy and I, being on a budget, were all for this. The tour in Prague was our first experience and it was awesome! It was jam packed with information and took us to all the major areas of the city. Our tour guide Issac, had something to do with it too. The best way to describe him is as a character. Christy, as the counselor, had an interesting time analzying him throughout the tour, because he was just that interesting. He was a mix of an historian, a cynic, and an inappropriate comedian.
That was Prague.
Coming up: Salzburg, Austria
grace and peace
